Men's Ministry

Our Identity

Anvils are extremely strong, symbolizing the idea of building tough, resilient men of faith who can handle life’s challenges. They are used to shape and transform metal through heat and hammering, representing spiritual growth as men are molded and refined by their faith and community. Anvils provide a solid and stable surface for forging, symbolizing a strong foundation for men to grow in their faith, values, and character. This solid surface is to be used by the community and especially our families for growth in God. The image of blacksmithing and anvils has a great Biblical background, calling upon passages about refining and purification, such as Proverbs 27:17: “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” By choosing the name “Anvil,” our group seeks to glorify God through our work as disciples to our families and community.

Our Goal

Our men’s ministry is dedicated to bringing men together for the purpose of leading each man to know the blessing of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We train men to make Christ-followers of other men in small groups of 3-4. We also gather for meals and other activities that encourage and equip us to live to honor and glorify God.

“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17, ESV)

When we say that "Iron sharpens iron", what do we mean by this? Just as iron is used to sharpen another piece of iron, we can sharpen each other’s skills, character, and understanding through supportive, challenging, and productive relationships. This shows the importance of community, mentorship, and accountability in personal and spiritual growth. We seek to grow stronger, wiser, and more capable through meaningful interactions with each other.

Bible Memory Club

Please join the LBC Men’s Ministry as we begin to memorize 1 Peter 4:7-13 through the Bible Memory App:

“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”
